You cannot recreate a wood-fired oven at home, but you can get close by heating the baking tray with the oven on its highest setting. The dough then meets a scorching surface straight away and the base turns crisp instead of pale. Using little sauce is the second rule: too much makes the pizza soggy.

Preheat the oven to its highest setting with the baking tray inside.
Mix the passata with crushed garlic, oregano, salt and pepper.
Roll the dough out thinly and spread it with a thin layer of sauce.
Tear the mozzarella over the top and bake the pizza for 10 minutes.
Finish with fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
Draining and patting the mozzarella dry makes a big difference to the moisture. Basil goes on after baking, in the oven it burns. From here you can go anywhere with salami, mushrooms or rocket with prosciutto. Pizza does not wait, so get it on the table the moment it leaves the oven.
Or press the button and let it surprise you.

A creamy sauce full of basil pesto, tender pan-fried chicken and the fresh sweetness of cherry tomatoes. This is comfort food with something extra, on the table in 25 minutes with no fuss.

Buttery salmon from the oven, crisp broccoli and a fresh note of lemon. Simple, healthy and on your plate within half an hour. Perfect for a weeknight without any fuss.

A juicy beef burger with melted cheddar, crisp lettuce and homemade sweet potato fries on the side. Better than the takeaway, and made entirely by you.
